The Vaquita is the worlds smallest cetacean, and also the most endangered. Over the course of the yeras, their population has dropped from 567, to a mere 10. Vaquitas have a very diverse diet, ranging from fish, crustaceans, and squids. Vaquitas are heavily impacted by overfishing, and they arent even what the fishers are looking for. They live in the same habitat as the Totoabo, which is also endangered, which is the main target of the illegal fishing practices. Due to the Vaquita living in the Gulf of California, which is the same habitat as the Totoabo, it gets caught by the same nets and drowns.
So a big part of Turbles goal is to stop overhunting for endangered animals. Hunting on its own isnt bad, especially since most ethical hunters use the entirety of the animal they kill, ensuring that the animals life goes to use. However, unfortunately, SOME people hunt for trophies, or simply because they dislike an animal (sounds stupid i KNOW!!) case in point, Vultures. In africa and asia these fellers are being HEAVILY overhunted, and i know most people dislike the critters but they are ESSENTIAL to the ecosystem. Vultures stomach acids are SO acidic they destroy things such as rabies when a corpse contaminated with the disease enters their stomach. Essentially, getting rid of the chance of said disease spreading from other animals consuming the corpse. Getting rid of them entirely could be DETRIMENTAL. Theres actually laws against hunting them, though theres still people doing so illegaly. Though, due to their relatively negative reputation, little to no one reports it :( I am vultures NUMBER ONE defender.
The Tiger as many people know is a large carnivorous cat, and an apex predator! Despite this, they are on the edge of being extinct, going from a population of 100,000 in Asia to 5,600. This is an insane population drop, and without the proper care and laws being enforced, they wont be able to recover from this. One of the largest threats to tigers is poaching, as their body parts are highly sought out for medicine and at times, purely status symbols. Along with this, Them and the people of their natural habitats often compete for space, which results in them resorting to hunting farm animals :( When they do this, Humans go to killing them in retaliation.
